Sticks for Stones is a homegrown company that began with one loft bed, then grew by word of mouth. The first loft bed built was for the owner, Steve Picken, when he first moved to a cramped tenement in NYC. His room measured 7'x9' and space was a serious issue. Steve, with his extensive background in home-building, began to design a loft bed with no legs with a grown-up look. The last thing he wanted was a loft bed that looked like it was designed for a child. The bed also had to be strong and simple, leaving only screw holes in the wall since he was a renter.
